The results

Web-based augmented reality

While AR has been around for a while, it has almost exclusively been used in apps. However, recent developments have made it possible to provide sophisticated AR experiences on the web, so users no longer have to download an app to access it.

Have A Look’s web-based virtual fitting room experience eased the the path from start to end of a purchase for the user, leading to a better conversion rate. It also established Have A Look as an innovative company.

The challenge

Digitizing the fitting room

Selling glasses on the internet is tough; Have A Look’s unique design speaks for itself, but how do you convince people to buy a design product, especially glasses, without a physical model?

It can be difficult to decide which style to buy when looking online, but we wanted to enhance the experience and make it easier to take the leap and buy a pair despite not being able to try them on before making the purchase.”

The process

Tweaking an open-source framework

In collaboration with Have A Look, we identified that emerging augmented reality (AR) technology could improve their customer experience. We tweaked an open-source framework for face detection, and customized 3D models of the frames to look natural, in order to create a seamless online fitting room. The whole product was developed in less than two months.
