Nutritional Therapy for IBD is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing evidence-based nutrition to enhance the well-being and health of people with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). They wanted to combine their two websites into one and improve the user experience for their different users; patients, researchers and health care professionels.

The challenge

Nutritional Therapy for IBD wanted to combine its two websites, ntforibd.org and pathway.ntforibd.org, into one improved site. The old Wagtail and Django sites were hard for non-tech team members to update.

The primary goals were to merge extensive content from both sites, migrate over a thousand recipes, improve recipe discoverability, and maintain the site’s professional, clinical, yet approachable essence.

The new site was envisioned to be user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and optimized for navigation, searchability, and conversion enhancement.

The process

The project started with a thorough analysis of the existing information architectures and content inventories, working closely with the Nutritional Therapy for IBD team.

We updated the visual brand and created a new design system for the unified site. We built the site using Webflow, which enabled quick prototyping and adaptable design changes. We integrated Memberstack to handle user profiles and secure logins, improving user interaction and personalization.

To maintain continuity for returning visitors, we set up redirects from all old URLs to the matching new pages, maintaining link equity and accessibility.
